With over 20 years’ experience catering for young families, family-friendly boutique hotel Caserío del Mirador welcomes guests to enjoy a colourful mix of adventures, new experiences and relaxing downtime in a perfect countryside setting.

Located in the beautiful hills halfway between Alicante and Valencia, Caserío del Mirador offers sweeping views of the Costa Blanca coast and is surrounded by ancient olive groves, vineyards and dramatic mountains. Here, families can slow down and enjoy being together in a peaceful setting; take a relaxing ramble or simply enjoy the property grounds, which is home to farm animals, children’s play areas and a stunning pool with plenty of shaded cabanas.

Pool days are often the highlight of Caserío’s guests, although visitors can head to the nearby coast with the child-friendly beaches of Moraira and Jávea just a short drive away, or for the more adventurous there are protected bays and secret coves. The local town of Xaló is a nearby gem just a 10-minute drive away and, with a rich farming heritage, there’s a lively market, artisan shops, bustling bars and restaurants to explore. The city of Valencia, an hour and a half away, is a popular day trip with its aquarium, science museum, historic city centre and lively foodie scene.

Food plays a key role in the Caserío del Mirador experience and guests can come together in the al fresco kitchen to enjoy a meal with family and new friends. This season’s menu comes from the beating heart of the kitchen - or in this case, the Outside Kitchen.

Spanish and Mediterranean dishes are freshly prepared by co-host Sarah Robinson and her team from seasonal local ingredients and home grown (or laid) produce. Dishes such as paella, tortilla and an array of delicious tapas use herbs and vegetables from Caserío’s garden, including springtime artichokes, delicious beef tomatoes, padron peppers and a field of melons where children can pick their own.

Children’s tea takes place daily - a fun occasion around a communal table on the terrace, while parents enjoy a refreshing drink and conversation. Later on, adults can enjoy a relaxed social dinner under the stars or take a private supper on their own terrace.

There’s lots to explore in the property grounds; from the sandpit and play areas, to making friends and petting the farm animals, who include Shetland ponies, Fury and Turron; resident pigs, Peppa and Daisy; twin goats, Freddie and Fern, or feeding the rabbits - too many to mention!

Owners Johnny and Sarah Robinson have been focused on the future of our planet for as long as they’ve owned the property and have developed a robust sustainability programme having assessed all aspects of their operation. Today, the result is an environmentally responsible hotel. By embracing sustainability, they continue to minimise the environmental impact of Caserío using a well engineered and innovative infrastructure to create a positive experience rooted in conscious and responsible practices.

As such, they have developed an off-grid renewable energy supply resulting in 95% of their power use provided by solar photovoltaic panels. To keep the house and outside areas cool, large areas are shaded by awnings to keep direct sunlight away, reducing the need to constantly run air-conditioning. Light motion sensors ensure there is always lighting in communal areas without consuming electricity all night.

When it comes to produce, Johnny and Sarah pride themselves on their food providence and in minimising food waste. Using locally sourced and home grown (and laid) food - fresh eggs from Caserío chickens, fresh fruit and vegetables from the kitchen garden - together with food sourced from local markets to support the region’s farmers, all combine to make the healthiest, most nutritious and flavoursome meals. Minimising food waste is closely monitored and care is taken to prepare the correct quantities of pre-ordered guest meals; any food that remains is fed to the animals. Recycling bins are found in each guest room and they also limit suppliers using plastic packaging, which is avoided where possible.

The Robinsons have restored the traditional terraces and created space for nature. Rewilding has meant wildflowers have become more prominent with bees, butterflies and birdlife more noticeable and, of course, rainwater is collected for garden use. This area of Spain has been recognised by the World Health Organisation as having one of the healthiest climates in the world and, in 2005, the neighbouring Sierra Bernia was designated a Natural Reserve park to protect its wildlife and landscape.

Caserío del Mirador offers a range of accommodation which is perfectly set-up for families. Guests can choose from six one- and two-bedroom self-contained apartments in the main house, or The Casita - a cosy two-bedroom villa. All accommodation comes with its own outside dining terrace, kitchen and lounge area, allowing guests to be as self-sufficient or private as they like. Cots, highchairs and a selection of age-appropriate toys and books are all included, along with a welcome hamper. Prices start from €1485 for a one week stay.

Alicante Airport is the main hub for the Costa Blanca served by a number of airlines (Easyjet, BA, Ryanair, Vueling, Jet2) from around the UK with the property just an hours’ drive away on arrival. Valencia airport is one hour and fifteen minute drive away.

If you’re trying to conceive (TTC), you probably know that there are certain foods and nutrients that become especially important once you’re pregnant. But nutrition plays a vital role even when trying to conceive, much like laying a strong foundation before constructing a house.

Certain nutrients create that foundation by supporting egg and sperm health (yes, nutrition matters for both partners), hormone balance and creating a hospitable environment for a fertilized egg to implant. In fact, studies show that certain nutrients can help increase fertility and improve success rates for both natural conception and fertility treatments.

In other words, nutrition is a key player in the TTC journey, but getting the right nutrients in the right quantities can be tricky. That’s where supplements come in. Just as you’d take a multivitamin to fill in nutritional gaps for optimal health, fertility supplements can give you that extra nutrient boost.
